End of the World

Do you believe the Mayans' calendar that the world "as we know it" will end on December 21, 2012? Have you lived your life differently based on your Mayan belief (or non-belief)? Discuss.

the toddler got colds! the poor baby.. :( probably got very tired yesterday so the virus was able to overcome her weakened immune state and BOOM! a toddler with runny nose woke up this morning. so far, hubby + me + lil baby don't have any symptoms (of colds / flu / whatever) yet. and I hope it stays that way. its no fun taking care of 2 kids and running a household when you're sick <sigh> so since the toddler is a bit lethargic, we had a slow day today. didn't cook for breakfast and we just leftover pork ribs from yesterday's lunch out. for lunch, we had leftover BonChon chap chae and chicken. yeah, leftovers galore! told you we had a slow day, hehe

watched The Bourne Legacy, and the movie exceeded my expectations! it was actually pretty good, tight plot and awesome acting. can't wait for the next movie! :) after watching, I spent hours scouring the web for 2012's best movies (so far) that we ought to view. surprisingly, hubby and I already watched most of the good films like The Grey, Ted, Cabin in the Woods, Bernie, Safety Not Guaranteed, 21 Jump Street, Chronicle, and loads more. gotta give credit to hubby for all of these coz he's the one downloading our movies. who would have thought he had good taste? haha!

news from around the world: (a) North Korea found a unicorn lair (I'm not kidding!!) ~ I know, I know.. the NKs have gone crazy o.O (b) super typhoon Bopha / Pablo makes landfall in the Philippines, in the same vicinity where typhoon Washi wrought devastation around a year ago. hopefully there's not much casualties and destruction this time as the people are more prepared <cross fingers> (c) Kate Middleton / Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant!! after so much media speculation, the royal couple finally announced they are expecting. sad news is, Kate is suffering from severe morning sickness that requires her to be hospitalized.

back to our daily grind: hubby woke up from his afternoon nap around 5pm and told him to buy milk tea from Tokyo Tokyo to lift our toddler's spirits. surprisingly, the lil girl didn't want to go out with her Daddy to the mall! yeah, she's really sick and would prefer to be home :( and so it was the baby who went with Dada, safely worn in ergoBaby carrier (must-have for any parents!!). the toddler and me stayed home, surfing the Internet for Barbie clothes and found a cheap trove of awesome Barbie dolls in eBay instead! dinner was patatim (super yummy!!) that my mom brought all the way from our hometown <3

after hubby left for work, the kids stayed awake for the next 3 hours ~ crying, crawling, asking for milk, and generally being nuisance to me <sigh> they finally fell asleep just now, and by God, the silence is a super welcome change from all the squalling throughout the day! :) will cleanup the house a bit then go surf til our unreliable Internet connection goes poof. hopefully I'll get minimum 6hours sleep before hubby arrives from work, but I think I'll prolly just have 3-4hrs. that's no thanks to the Internet and Dean Koontz' Shadowfires. booyah!! parting shot: Mabelle of mydigistyle.com (my fave digiscrap site!) just released her Christmas kit, Joy-O-Joy ~ I totally love it especially the strings packet! ^__^

freakin' busy day!

8am: watched Resident Evil: Retribution while eating breakfast. great story! and Milla Jovovich still rocks after 5 movies!! more, more, more!
10am: heard mass at church (the baby slept, the toddler behaved; thank you Lord!)
11am: lunch at Racks in the mall ~ their food is still finger lickin' good after more than a decade!! a bit pricey but once a week "expensive" Sunday family lunch / dinner is our tradition ;-) we got half rack of Pork Ribs (instead of the usual Baby Back Ribs), cornbread, broccoli and cheese, mashed potatoes, garlic rice and seafood chowder. the soup was one of the best I've ever tasted! and it was only $2 with 2 (largish) slices of yummy garlic bread to boot!
12nn: shopping gifts for the in-laws and godchildren. thank God there was an Exporters Expo going on and we got lots of excellent quality clothes :) walked home after and it was raining a bit! hope the kids won't get colds, especially since flu is circulating these days

2pm: put kids on their afternoon naps while hubby and I do our thing (surf the Internet that is, heehee)
430pm: kids are up! we're off to see my parents and bro's family
5pm: waiting for the MRT train ~ it was a tight squeeze inside the compartment! the baby was also not behaving, grabbing clothes and stuff of other people o.O
6pm: saw my mom in a department store's ladies shoes section and she got me a new pair of flats! woohoo! it was around $6 and was white with green ribbon :)
7pm: arrived in the city park for their lights and music show. the place is packed! the restaurants are packed! thankfully my mom was patient enough to fall in line and order our food in BonChon. me, hubby, my bro and our 3 kids (combined, LOL) explored the park. the toddler and my niece kept running / jumping around, and a lil boy tried to play with them. unfortunately my kid snubbed him, tsk
730pm: the lights and music show begins! it was really nice with a bit of fireworks imagery :) funny thing is, our baby fell asleep during the entire show despite the loud Christmas music!
8pm: our dinner is served! however there was no place to eat and my father refused to eat in the park grounds so off we went to my bro's smallish condo. 6 adults + 3 kids in a 30sqm area loaded with home stuff. do the math ;-) it was enjoyable though, and the kids had no eating problems as they were very hungry to begin with. they just gobbled up BonChon's yummy chicken and (bland / oily) fries ^__^ the toddler also kept asking to drink my SIL's milk tea from BreadTalk. yeah, our kid is quite addicted to milk tea, hehe
9pm: began watching Just For Laughs in Disney Channel as we finish dinner. OMG. freakin' hilarious stuff!! my bro, father and hubby were laughing raucously one comedic skit after skit after skit! guys are so easily tickled by stupid things :p the toddler and my niece, meanwhile, were busy playing / quarreling. the baby was laughing along with my bro, and lil old me is trying to stay awake -_-
930pm: finally going home!! my bro and father are taking us back to our condo. the baby is asleep, the toddler still talking up a storm. she's a lil dynamite, this one <sigh>
10pm: home sweet home! put kids to bed then I continue to read Shadowfires (dead man resurrected via genetics and is coming after his ex-wife, tsk) while hubby is busy reading a 20years+ old manga. good night everyone and see you tomorrow! no world news today as I'm bone-tired :p

12/01/2012 :: day 11

remember, remember, the first day of december! ;-)

yesiree!! after 11 months of plodding through 2012, we're finally in the Christmas zone! <happy jig> ^__^ the day didn't start great though as I only had 4 hours of sleep (was reading a new book, Shadowfires by Dean Koontz) when hubby arrived from work o.O I ate breakfast with him ~ leftover pizzas from a food market and from Piadina, and since I was still very groggy, I went back to sleep. woke up by 9am and the kids were playing with my parents. yay for grandparents! truly they are heaven-sent to sleep-deprived parents ;-) spent the morning playing with the kids and cooking lunch (glass noodles with fresh Shitake mushrooms and organic broccoli). our lil baby had her first taste of broccoli on her own and I think she loved it coz she finished one flowerette. would have given her more but I was scared she might get gassy.

blight of the day: the kids refused their afternoon naps! my mom and I spent more than an hour of putting both the baby and the toddler to sleep before they finally succumbed. of course there were lots of tears, threats, and what-nots <sigh> motherhood is stressful! at least they slept quite long so I had time to surf the Internet / blog / edit photos :) yeah, I had a stressful early afternoon but my late afternoon went fine, and my early evening was great as our toddler kept saying "thank you / love you mommy" to me coz I gave her a (used) food container that she can use while play cooking. my heart just melted over and over again <3 <3 <3 kids are very easily impressed noh? and mommies are very easily touched! so I guess it goes without saying that this is the highlight of my day ;-)

the november box of BDJBox is out, and I'm thinking of getting one coz I love what's inside! but I'm kinda thinking of waiting to see what's inside GlamourBox. this time, I can't buy both boxes as it will be too expensive already. important to-do: finalize Christmas gift list and begin shopping! at least we have 1 affordable place to go to for buying gifts as my parents went there yesterday and today (my mom bought uber cute dresses for the kids!). most clothes go for $3 to $6 and these are brand-new and of good quality! we will go there tomorrow and hopefully our Christmas shopping will be done with just a lil dent on our wallets <cross fingers> scary news of the day: North Korea plans to launch missiles (yet again) this december. don't know what's up with Asia's Communist countries these days.. they're on the news 24/7!
